About The Match
England’s tour of the West Indies has not been going to plan. The tourists were defeated comprehensively in the first two test matches and only managed to win a dead rubber without the West Indian captain being present in the playing eleven. England is considered one of the best test playing nations and really should have beaten the West Indies. Now, the series moves on to the ODI matches. The specter of the ICC World Cup 2019 is hanging large over each and every ODI match that is played from here on in and this is not going to be any different.
England is the number one ranked ODI nation in the world while the West Indies is 9th. England is one of the clear favorites to win the ICC World Cup 2019 while the West Indies qualified by the skin of their teeth. Can the West Indies pull off something special against England in this ODI series? Can England continue to dominate this format like it has for the last few years?

Favorite Team in Today Match Prediction
According to our match prediction,England is the favorite team to win this match. The reasons why England is a favorite team in this match are mentioned below:
There is a lot of speculation around any West Indies team that is announced because the names that don’t make it to the squad attract as much attention as much as the names that do make it. People like Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine are not a part of this squad because they are away playing in T20 leagues as hired guns. There is that can be done about it and it looks like the West Indies has resigned itself to the fact. They do have a very talented group of players, though, which could give England a run for its money and pull off a couple of surprises.
Chris Gayle is back in the squad and is expected to be available for the ICC World Cup 2019 as well. He is going to lead a batting lineup that has a lot going for it. John Campell gets a chance in the ODI side in place of Evin Lewis, who is injured. Going by the manner in which Campbell played in the test matches, he is going to be very aggressive at the top in the ODI’s as well.
Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope, and a number of quality all-round options lend a lot of balance to the West Indies. Fabien Allen, Jason Holder, and Carlos Brathwaite are all a part of the squad and add flexibility in terms of batting and bowling options. There is some inexperience in the middle but we like the look of this batting unit. Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer are two of the most exciting batsmen going around and we genuinely hope they commit to West Indies cricket for the long run.
Kemar Roach, Oshane Thomas, and Ashley Nurse are likely to make the playing eleven alongside the all-rounders. Devendra Bishoo could also be a part of the playing eleven but we don’t think the English batsmen are going to be worried about his bowling too much. The Windies showed in the series against India that they are capable of getting large scores on the board consistently. If the bowling can back that up then they can get the better of England in this series as well.
A long and sometimes difficult period of ODI transformation has given way to what is easily the strongest and most successful England ODI side in the history of the game. There is no team that has been more successful than England in the ODI format over the last two years and this is why they are the absolute favorites when it comes to the ICC World Cup 2019.
A list of familiar faces populated the English squad for this series as well. The focus for Eon Morgan is going to winning this series but also to wrap up the final few faces that remain to be finalized. The depth in the England ODI squad is absolutely breathtaking and you get a very strong eleven no matter who plays. Players like Alex Hales, David Willey, Tom Curran, Joe Denly, and even Mark Wood are not assured of their place in the playing eleven.
It is the exciting brand of batting that has set England apart from the other top sides in the world and the bevy of world-class all-rounders that allow them the batting depth to keep going hard no matter what the situation. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are the players we think will open the batting followed by Root, Morgan, Stokes, Buttler, Ali, and Woakes at 8. This batting lineup already contains three genuine bowling options also.
The three remaining spots will go to the bowlers. Tom Curran and Mark Wood would be our first choice alongside Adil Rashid but England may look to give all the players in their squad a chance. On paper, England is a far stronger batting side than the Windies. They are, however, prone to a collapse or two as well thanks to their ultra-aggressive approach. The pitches in the Carribean may not be the most conducive for the Englishman to attack and that could be something to watch out for.
Mark Wood, Moeen Ali, Tom Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid make for an excellent bowling attack. There is David Willey and Liam Plunkett in the squad too depending on which direction the selectors go. England has all its bases covered and will be hoping for a tough series to put its player under pressure. They want to be tested in every possible way before getting to the cricket World Cup 2019.

Pitch and Conditions
The first ODI between West India and England is going to be played at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. The weather is forecast to be a bit gloomy on match day and we could have some rain interruptions. Hopefully, the showers will be short and not take out too much time from the game. As far as the surface goes, the batsmen should be in for a good time. The pitch is flat, with even bounce, although it is a bit slow in nature.
The first match of a five ODI series is very significant. It helps set the tone for the remainder and can dictate which way the result goes. England is a strong side and should be able to win this match although the contest is going to be much closer than most people expected. The depth in batting and a better bowling attack should swing things the way England in this contest. Back England to win.
